Participants will have a complete jury experience combining a film criticism workshop with a week at the festival.

 Workshop

An intensive workshop on film analysis and criticism, mentored by Ligia Soare and Alexis Hunot.

Ligia Soare has been part of the Animest Festival team since its very first edition. She coordinates the festival’s international relations and educational projects and works on film programming for young audiences. Throughout the year, she runs national and European programmes focused on cultural accessibility and inclusion through film. She is also a professional audiovisual translator, working with film producers and distributors, and leads and trains teams of translators for numerous festivals across Romania.

Alexis Hunot is a film critic and curator. He is the founder of the Paris International Animation Film Festival and has taught at several international animation universities.

Festival

The jury experience continues with a festival pass for Animest, giving participants access to a programme curated by the Animation Incubator team, featuring screenings, masterclasses, industry talks and many other activities.

The selected jury members will have the opportunity to talk with professionals from the animation and film industries — and even with the directors of films they are judging.

In addition, the Teen Jury will become the selection team for next year’s Fresh Frames programme — Animest’s program of animated shorts created by teenagers.

Who will be on the jury?

The Teen Jury will consist of 3 members.

Selection will be based on an application consisting of two questions:

• Why do you think you are the right person for the Teen Jury @ Animest.21?
• Choose a film you enjoyed and explain why other people should watch it. You can talk about its themes, characters, social impact, artwork, visuals, or anything else that made an impression on you.

Participation is free! We provide accommodation and lunch for participants. Participants are responsible for arranging and covering their own transportation to and from Bucharest.

The workshop and festival activities will take place in Bucharest. Participants must be available for the entire duration of the programme. The Teen Jury programme may run until late in the evening, but not later than 23:00.
