Our Productions

The Animation Incubator is an inclusive educational community that supports teenagers in learning animation and digital skills.

All works presented here were created by teenagers from Romania and Moldova as part of our workshops and educational programs, under the guidance of mentors Anna Florea, Laura Pop, Cristian Radu and Dave King.

Most of our animations are developed through hands-on workshops, where groups of 10 teenagers work together based on a shared theme. Participation in these workshops is free of charge, with a selection process in place. Below, you can explore a selection of works produced throughout the years as part of the Incubator.

The River (2023)

The River is an animated music video created in collaboration with Norwegian singer Ida Stein. The film follows the journey of a lonely boat with ups and downs, joy, solitude, and heartache. The animation was created during our 2023 Summer School workshop in Inucu, Romania, financed with the support of EEA Grants 2014-2021 within the RO-CULTURE programme.

Full Moon Party (2023)

What does a full-moon party look like underground, on an alien planet? What if every partygoer hosts their own celebration — and we get to experience all of them? This film was created by 10 teenagers during the Animate The Festival! 2023 workshop, organized in collaboration with the Animest International Animation Film Festival and in partnership with the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC).

I REMEMBER, I FEEL, I SEE, I AM SEEN (2024)

An animated journey through memory, sensory experience, and human connection, this film explores how we remember, feel, see, and are seen in a world rich with emotion and sensation. Inspired by meditative sensory exercises, the piece places particular emphasis on sound. This animated short was created by 10 teenagers during our 2024 Summer School workshop in Timișoara, Romania, financed with the support of Administrația Fondului Cultural Național (AFCN).

Making Space (2024)

Making Space explores the relationship between urban environments and the ways we find our place within them. The film follows Azorel, a dog-like urban dweller, as he navigates a reimagined city. Through Azorel’s journey, the film reshapes spaces to better reflect our communities, capturing the interplay between physical environments and the people who bring them to life. This film was created by 10 teenagers during the Animate The Festival! 2024 workshop, organized in collaboration with the Animest International Animation Film Festival and in partnership with the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” (UNATC).
