The program begins with a film critique and jury workshop, guided by Ligia Soare and Alexis Hunot, where participants are introduced to the fundamentals of film analysis, critical thinking, and jury responsibility, providing the tools needed to evaluate films from both artistic and thematic perspectives.

Following the workshop, jury members attend the festival throughout the week, watching a wide range of animated features and shorts, participating in masterclasses and industry talks, and meeting filmmakers, directors, and animation professionals. A central part of the experience is viewing and collectively evaluating the films in the International Feature Film Competition, from which the jury selects the recipient of the Teenagers’ Award.

In addition to awarding the prize, the Teenagers’ Jury also has the responsibility of selecting the Fresh Frames program for the following edition of Animest, becoming the curatorial team for the next year’s showcase of animated films by teenagers.

Beyond awarding the prize, the Teenagers’ Jury experience encourages dialogue, debate, and the development of an informed critical voice. Participants gain insight into how festivals operate, how films are selected and evaluated, and how artistic decisions are discussed within a professional context.

Participation is based on an open call and selection process, addressed to high school students from Romania and the Republic of Moldova who are members of the Animation Incubator Community.

For selected participants, accommodation and lunch during program days is provided by the organisers. Full availability throughout the duration of the program is required.
